This is the first year I’m choosing One Little Word to focus on, to inspire me, to embrace in my daily life. I’ve been thinking about what that one word should be since December. I wanted a word that will motivate me in 2014. A word that will enrich my life. It’s a big job for one little word.
I reflected on what I struggled with in 2013 and what I wanted to accomplish in 2014. I came up with a long list of goals I have yet to dive into. Some of them years old. I realized that was my problem – I keep adding things to my to do list and I’m not crossing things off. I procrastinate because I’m either caught up with the daily grind or can’t decide on where to start.
And that’s when it occurred to me. I just need to start. Somewhere, anywhere. The thing that is infinitely worse than not finishing a project is not even starting. I may not get it right the first time around. I may make mistakes. But that’s okay, I can just start over.
So that’s my word. Start.
