As we are housebound, we are feeling even more “homesick” than usual. We sold our little old bungalow about six months ago and now, more than ever, we miss our wonderful backyard. Our rental is a townhouse with no private outdoor space. It really makes us appreciate this backyard that we no longer have. Wouldn’t it be so wonderful if we could just open the backdoor and let our boys safely play in their sandbox? Wouldn’t it be so peaceful to enjoy some fresh air without worrying about crossing path with someone who doesn’t care about social distancing?
A lot of heart and sweat went into making this backyard the dream playground for the whole family. Often time, people would ask why don’t/didn’t we build out our house and our answer, without hesitation or regret, is that we value this outdoor space more than any indoor space we can possibly have. Yes, we have outgrown our house – we desperately need another bathroom – but there is no way we will cut out a section of this backyard for said bathroom.
We had space for our boys to play with sand and water; to have a playhouse and a carport; to go up and down a slide, trampoline, and seesaw; to paint, blow bubbles, and dig holes…
I only had one summer to enjoy my greenhouse but my gosh, isn’t it beautiful??!
And this shed… it only took four years, but KT built it!
And our main deck… we designed it and had a great contractor build it to our specification.
